The Wimbledon tennis championship is a very prestigious event and many of the best debenture seats are snapped up by large corporate organisations to entertain their clients. The tennis club does its best, however, to make it fair to all of those who would like the opportunity to watch the world-class tennis.

Wimbledon Ballots and Debentures

Every year, the tennis club holds a public, lottery style ballot, where the public can apply for a one-day ticket, which includes entry to the club grounds and access to either centre court or number one court. Details of the ballot can be found on the Wimbledon website (link below). The ballot takes place in December of the year before the tournament. People who are successful in the ballot are notified and given time to pay for their tickets.

Debenture seats are sold every five years for huge amounts of money and give the owners access to a seat for every day of the championships, for a five year period. These tickets are the only tickets that can be legally sold on. Although these debentures are generally owned by wealthy individuals or large companies, various agencies resell these tickets, usually for a high cost. Anyone buying these tickets through an agency would be advised to make sure they are dealing with a reputable company, as scams are abundant.
