Usa The Big Money

As small farmers and ranchers struggle with shifting markets, unpredictable weather, competition from large conglomerates, and a host of other financial challenges, they are increasingly seeking ways to both retain their agricultural heritage, and generate a more stable income.

To do this, they are turning to agricultural tourism. Agritourism uses existing agricultural resources and traditions to attract outside visitors. Those who engage in agricultural tourism can either use attractions to supplement the income of a working family farm, or focus their efforts entirely on their tourist attractions.

Agricultural Practices That Include Tourism

Agricultural tourism is any activity or attraction that is hosted in an authentic, agricultural environment, and uses that industry as its main attraction. These can seem like quaint business concepts: corn mazes, pick your own fruits and vegetables, Christmas tree farms, pumpkin patches, hay rides, homemade ice cream shops, and hundreds of other things. Fishing, hunting, horseback riding and hiking can all be incorporated in an agriculture tourism venture.
